The book commentary of the previous posting seems like a popular subject.
What better way to get in touch with good books than to solicit suggestions and opinions.
Those books that I mentioned like " A Short History of Amost Everything" are just a few of my favorites. Reviews and comments are on the internet. Special mention for Sonya: This book takes you into outer space. It also takes you into microscopic
things like atoms and such. Strangely, it is really good science but is also funny.
I insist that you read it.
My personal preference tends toward history, sometimes disguised as novels .
One such book springs to mind : The Reason Why , published quite some time ago and likely out of print, is a history of the Chrimean (?) war and the charge of the Light Brigade and much more. Now I can't find the darn book. We keep lending things out and often never see them again.

For those interested in buying dad's suggestion (or in case you wish to repurchase what was lost), here is the link to the book on Amazon. No, it is not yet out of print!

Dear Rummy,
I suggest and opine the following:
You have read my three suggestions as I hope have many of your readers. I read them many years ago and have read them again in the recent past and found them all even more wonderful than before.
Steinbeck’s Travels with Charlie. A coast to coast reencounter with mostly rural America in 1960.
Hemmingway’s A Movable Feast. His Paris and surroundings in the 1920’s – a reminiscence.
Twain’s A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. What more can I say?
Abrazos,
El Ruco
Hey DOG, I sent you an email which may have ended up in your junkmail...who knows, it happens. On this subject, there is a great little internet network at goodreads.com. I have a profile set up, and so does Paul. Basically you go in, add books you have read and rate them (and even add a review if you want) so that your friends can check out your reading list.
It is a great way of finding new books to read.
You should definitely check it out. I will also be setting up a blog in the next day or so.
much love,
~F
