I have always enjoyed controversy so what could be more controversial than racism. This is a term hurled about as the ultimate insult. Who really is a racist ?
Here is a little quiz I have devised
. Bear in mind that this quiz only applies to the white race.
1) Do you socialize with minorities on a regular basis ?
2) Are any of your good friends minorities ?
3) Have you ever dated a minority person ?
4) Have you ever used racial slurs ?
5) Would you object to your son or daughter marrying a minority person ?
6) Do you find racist jokes amusing ?
7) Do you secretly or overtly suspect that minorities are not as smart as whites?
The non racist will have answered the first four items with a yes and the last three with a no. A correct score of five would almost certainly make you a non racist.

I think I score a 4. I always think a person is a racist when they say, "I'm not a racist, but..."
This phrase is almost inevitably followed by a profoundly racist statement.
I would like to see the "Are you a sexist?" next.
I think that most otherwise rational people are pretty darned sexist. Thanks for the blog!
I think your scoring for Question #4 (Have you ever used racial slurs?) should be a "no" for the non-racist individual.
I am fairly sure that I don't socialize with minorities much, or have many minority friends (lowering my "score"), however, I am not sure that is always a good indicator, as my circle of socialites and friends is pretty limited!)
Also, some people have lived and grown up in predominatly white neighborhoods, and the opportunity may not present itself.
P.S. - I secretly suspect that Asians are far smarter than us "whities" - does that make me a racist too?

I took your test taking into consideration Tom’s observation on #4 and not surprisingly found that I was not a racist. Then, just for the hell of it I took the test for you! The results:
1) no
2) no
3) are you kidding?
4) but of course!
5) you’re damned right!
6) hell yes!
7) I don’t suspect, I know!

The point I was trying to make is that almost all white Americans
are racist even though we may try to deny it.
