Hannity is pushing a petition called "drill now". I accesed it by asking simply for
drill now petition. It was really simple. He has about 1 million so far and I added my vote.
You can do the same. It takes about no time at all. If you think this is a good idea, please add
your 2 cents. What do you think of the idea ?

You asked us to add our 2 cents worth if we agreed with the idea. Not sure if that means you welcome other opinions?
My dear Grandfather. While I wholeheartedly respect your intellect and opinions, I'm afraid you've been duped by your party's tired, worn-out party line this time.
But Friedman says it better than I ever could. Please read this HERE .
Friedman misses the point. We will need time to develope alternative
energy sources ( Nuclear, wind, coal, hydro etc.). Meanwhile, we must continue using the system in place
or shut down the economy.
I don't want to argue about this (mainly because I think I am right), but it saddens me that you are missing the point.
You are advocating the implementation of drilling that will take YEARS to get up and running, and will put $$ in the deep, deep pockets of the same companies that have been pocketing the largest subsidies and record breaking profits year after year...
instead of...
applying $$ to implementing CURRENTLY EXISTING technology, and supporting start-up companies and related manufacturing of associated products. This would not only create jobs, but could reinvigorate a manufacturing sector that is flagging badly--while creating more efficient energy production systems and generating future economic opportunities in the energy sector.
What you are suggesting is not akin to rearranging the furniture on the Titanic--more like polishing it for the trip down.
The solution to our energy-dependence on foes must be multi-pronged, with one of the prongs being drilling. By keeping the price of oil at the current rate, we could pump billions of dollars into funding research and development of alternatives (instead of funneling it to our foes). And these billions would create many jobs (good, private sector jobs). However, I am willing to bet that nothing of any substance will come from our illustrious leaders in Washington, and thus we need to rely on what Frances' refers to as the "evil profiteers" to bring us solutions.
I hate to be so much the practiced contrarian here, but I never used the term "evil profiteers".
That is 100% Nancy putting words in my mouth.
And sadly, I think she is right about Washington being powerless to change things.
Corporate interests have more power than any party or political institution out there.
