DOOM AND GLOOM

Two dark and rainy days in a row and more to come tomorrow has done nothing to make thing rosier. I am being attacked by the IRS again. When I think of the puny little summ that they want from me and compare it to the trillions being spent by the Obama administration I wonder why they are after my few thousand dollars. I have finally given up on the idea that I can do my own taxes and have hired a professional who seems to be having trouble solving my problem. This in turn has caused me to have trouble sleeping. That, of course, is stupid as it solves nothing.
My skin doctor tells me that I need an operation in a hurry. He should have been nicer to me since I have helped him make payments on his fancy Mercedes. Tuesday I go in for what is really a very minor surgery but, since I am on a doom and gloom kick, I am allowing this to help keep me awake.
I will not burden my vast readership with any more of my troubles. Next time you hear from me I feel sure that I will once again be my usual amusing self

Hey, everyone has the right to be bummed once in awhile. Sorry to hear you aren't sleeping. There are drugs for that, you know. They've been a big help to me. Keep us informed about the "minor" skin thing.

Now dad, how exactly did you think that Pres. Obama is going to pay for those trillions? He will go after anyone with a buck to spare and then quite a few without the buck to spare. We have used "professionals" to do our taxes for many years now -- at a cost of approximately $6,000 per year (that icludes our corporate taxes -- federal and state, and our personal taxes -- federal and state). If I could recoup this money. I could pay for another year of college for my kids. However, the tax code is so confoundedly and wickedly complicated that I cannot possibly figure out how to do our taxes (note that I do taxes for approximately 45 employees who have no deductions or special income).

I was amused to find out that the AMT is not the end all of taxes - if you make income from serving on a board of directors, this is considered "self-employed" income and it engenders yet a third way to calculate taxes -- and somehow, this tax takes even more than what the self-employed income was to begin with !!!

One more thing, I printed out some literature about Obama's tax return -- I was amazed and surprised and dismayed (sort of simultaneously) that he was able to deduct $47,488 to send his daughters to a private school. I paid over $65,000 to send my kids to college and got a ZERO deduction for any and all expenses since we are rich -- read that as we made a little over 200,000 before taxes (and that translates to 136,000 after taxes -- so about half of our after-tax income was spent on education). So, how come he deducts elementary expenses that are a fraction of his 2.6M income and I cannot. I, of course, have sent all pertinent links to my accountany to see if he missed something or if Obama found a loop-hole.

Remember dad, the rules are made by the rule-makers.

Sleep tight!
