THE WALL SREET ACCUPIERS

Writing a good blog is not easy. Picking a subject that is interesting to your scribe and potential readers is the hardest part. Half of the blogs that I write end up unpublished and in the garbage.

A pretty good subject popped up a few days ago. There were pictures of that piece of excretion, George Clooney being led away in cuffs and under arrest with a satisfied grin on his face. What he thought he was doing with the Wall Street protesters I can not imagine. How I would have loved to wipe that rictus off his bewhiskered visage.

I have often wondered what happens to those arrested for disturbing the peace, resisting arrest or rioting and often injuring police. I suspect that they are booked, pay a minimum fine and are released. Perhaps they wouldn't be so self satisfied if they spent a week or so in the pokey.

Do you suppose that these miscreants will be with us forever ? They have been around now foe about 6 months. I don't believe that they are accomplishing anything but they are managing to disgust most right thinking people.

Amy was closer to the mark than you were dad. Had absolutely nothing to do with OWS. He was arrested in Washington DC, outside the Sudanese Embassy. Mr. Clooney has been a long time advocate that we should do more than look the other way at the attrocities commited the brutal regime of Omar Al-Bashir, the Sudanese leader.
As an aside, you are probably flying solo on this opinion, as George is an amazing actor, beloved by many if not most, and to boot, has convictions.

Oh dear. I am distressed to read that half of your blogs end up unpublished. Confidence! Hit publish and let us be the judge.

As to this particular post, my lovely husband has set your facts straight. Mr. Clooney is one of the few actors that use their public recognition to do good and his continued work in Sudan is nothing short of heroic. His arrest created more light aimed at a very dark situation.

The occupiers....yes I think perhaps their ship has sailed, but we have to give them points for persistence.

Hmmm, political leanings aside, I'm more than a little pleased to see the American people standing up and demanding the America they were promised by the founding fathers.

I'd like to see much more, in a more organized fashion.

And I'm with Amy- I'd share a cell with Clooney any day of the week. He's one of the least idiotic movie stars out there. What he was protesting makes good sense-- we have got to use what little nonviolent negotiating power we have as a nation to confront the atrocities committed in nations like Sudan by tyrants and demand something better. Something different. To turn a blind eye is to be complicit.

If we fail to do this, all our hemming and hawing about Democracy is moot.

It's not such a big world anymore- shrinking every day. We are all in this together, and should act like it
