I just wrote a long blog and pushed a button and it disappeared forever.
It's a good thing. Never has a blog been more devoid of interest. It was about a trivia game which Jan and I go to on MOnday night. It takes place in a tough sort of bar called THE BURLAP BARREL filled with hard drinking , hard smoking people
(red necks). But I am not going to repeat the lousy blog. Jan particularly likes to go because we get a free meal. She is a fine cook but lately seems to be happy to go out
and eat.
When one runs out of subjects, one talks about the weather. Is it at all possible that Al Gore is on to something. Global warming ! I don't think so but it has been beastly hot around here the last week. Don't believe the weather reports. They keep telling us that Houston hit 99 degrees. I go to our friend ,Arthur Mometer, who informs us that it is more like 102 and has been for the last few days.

Sorry to hear about the blog loss!
I understand that happens. In fact, in the computer business that is one of THE most frustrating things. My trick? I always write my blogs using Microsoft Word, or some other editor. Then I just copy/paste it when done. It also lets me write on my own time, without having to count on Blogger saving my work!
What? Is it possible that I just read you use Al Gore's name with just the barest hint of credibility? It's ok, I won't hold you to it. :-)
Arthur Mometer..very funny.
It's easy for you to say"just copy and paste". It must be easy for you geeks but I am just a simple country boy and have no idea how this is done.
I've lost a couple of blogs as well. Just plain old gone. Ususlly I don't have a second round of inspiration, so I have no option but to shrug it off and write it off as time well wasted.
Okay, DOG, take a deep breath, and I am going to walk you through "copy and paste." I keep trying to tell my DOM (Dear Old Mom) how easy this is. So here goes:
(I assume you know how to create a document in Microsoft Word or other such text program)
1) After completing your document, spellchecking (your spelling has been much better of late, by the way) and whatever else, simply press the CTL key and the "A" key at the same time. All of the text should become magically highlighted.
2) Now, press the CTL key and the "C" key at the same time. You won't see anything happen, but this has now magically copied your text onto an invisible clipboard
3) Make sure your cursor in your blog editor, and simply press CTL and "V" at the same time. Your text will appear in the window.
I am giving you the shortcuts, because I much prefer them to other methods. Once you do this a few times, you will be delighted with how easy it is.
You can literally do this with text you see printed almost anywhere online.
You can thank me later.

This copy and paste thing- All very clear. Many thanks to Fancypants.
You say curser in the blog edit. Where is that ?
Ah, okay, I thought that might not be very clear...
All that means is the little blinking line that indicates that everything you type will follow it.
Have you tried it? Does it work?
